Technology Self-Assesment 2.0

NETS-T 5 c. evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.

I chose NETS-T one, Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity.   The article I chose is titled "Top 10 Web 2.0 Tools for Young Learners" by Chris Riedel.  It is a top ten list of the many technology tools that can be used in the classroom to empower children’s learning and creativity.  The reason why I chose this article is because I am not tech savvy whatsoever; if anything I am the opposite of tech savvy.  I found helpful that following the web tool is a description of the program and how it may benefit the learning environment, which was helpful because I had not ever heard of most of the web tools mentioned. I learned of many tools, like Animoto, it uses images to communicate a message.  I learned of Voicethread, which allows pictures to be uploaded and commented through text or audio.
I think all these web tools are quite contemporary and exciting to teach and to learn.  I wonder how different my education would have been if I would have been taught through some of the web tools teachers have available to them.  I am also learning that technology should not be seen as a threat to our future generations but an aid to their own future.
